Kimberly Newman

Kim Newman is a partner in O’Melveny’s Washington, DC office and a member of the Business Trial and Litigation and Telecommunications Practices.  She is a seasoned trial lawyer, having tried numerous cases before federal judges, state commissions and the American Arbitration Association.  Kim also possesses extensive experience managing discovery in large, complex cases.

 

Illustrative Professional Experience

  • Led a Fortune 25 company in several successful, multi-million dollar arbitrations
  • Managed discovery on behalf of a Fortune 25 company in one of the country's largest civil cases involving millions of pages of electronic data
  • Seconded for six months to supervise litigation for one of the country's largest oil companies
  • Seconded for one year to manage litigation for one of the nation's largest local telephone companies in the wake of the Telecommunications Act of 1996
  • Prevailed in a federal jury trial on behalf of a major oil company involving breach-of-contract allegations and alleged violations of the Uniform Commercial Code
  • Secured the dismissal of a criminal indictment in a jury trial against a pro bono client facing 13 years in a federal penitentiary

Kim serves on the board for two national charities: Youth Service America and the National Council for Adoption. She is the partner in charge of charitable donations and community service in the Washington, D.C. office and member of the Firm's Diversity Advisory Board.
